How much does Satellite Internet Cost?
Living in a remote area can have its upsides, but it also has its downsides too, one of the downsides to living in a remote area, is that much of the time you cannot receive broadband in the usual way. There is however, a solution to this, is via the installation of satellite internet (Internet per Satellit) .
How does it work
Instead of having to use dial up, which is relatively slow in this day and age, you will have a two way satellite dish installed, this will allow both for uploads and downloads. The dish itself will be based on either the outer wall of your property or on the roof and will be connected to your computer via a modem. It works in pretty much the same way as broadband would, but would be a little slower, so typically you would expect the following:
· Once you have typed an address into the computer, then the computer will send the web address through the modem and to the dish, which is located to the outer side of your property.
· The dish will then send the site request up to a satellite which in turn will beam it back to your network provider or operations centre.
· The network operations centre will then contact the website and them transmit the information which you requested back up to the satellite.
· The satellite will then beam the information you provided back to your satellite dish and your computer via the modem which is connected to the computer.
Typically it is slower than that of telephone wired broadband, but it is certainly much faster than a standard modem.
The cost
Like all other broadband, the cost will depend on the amount of you are wanting to use and the package you opt for. The more you use and download, the more you will expect to pay in the long run for your product, and vice versa, the less you use the less you can expect to pay.
