My Pet Goat At 9:03 AM on 11 September 2001, the second airplane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center. President Bush was in Florida, at the Emma T. Booker Elementary School, listening to children read. Chief of Staff Andrew Card came over and whispered in Bush's ear, "A second plane hit the second tower. America is under attack." What did the commander in chief do? Nothing. He sat there for well over five minutes, doing nothing while 3,000 people were dying and the attacks were still in progress
Mission Accomplished May 1, 2003. Bush delays the arrival of USS Abraham Lincoln in San Diego in order to stage a photo opportunity with the banner "Mission Accomplished" as a backdrop. Since then more than 96% of the casualties in Iraq have occurred. (as of November 2007)

On Wednesday, August 31, 2005 Bush ended his vacation and made a cursory 35-minute flyover in Air Force One to view the devastation in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
