Caspian Region Pipelines Constraints in getting the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea to markets in Asia, Europe and the Americas has kept energy resource development at a slow pace. However, with the Baku-Tbilisi Ceyhan pipeline ready to come online by the end of 2005, the Caspian Sea's oil and natural gas resources will reach world markets without the risks posed by the Bosporus choke point.

Balkan Oil Transit Pipeline Projects Located on the western shores of the Black Sea, a major thoroughfare for world oil exports, the countries of Southeastern Europe hope to grow as transit centers, carrying Russian and Caspian Sea Region oil to market in Europe. Several pipelines are currently in various stages of construction and development.
