Constraints in getting the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea to markets in Asia, Europe and the Americas has kept energy resource development at a slow pace. However, with the Baku-Tbilisi Ceyhan pipeline ready to come online by the end of 2005, the Caspian Sea's oil and natural gas resources will reach world markets without the risks posed by the Bosporus choke point.
